Welcome message from the H.O.D.

The Heads of Departments, Great students of Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Staff of the Department, Ladies and Gentlemen. It is with great pleasure, and as a pioneer head of this department that I welcome you all to this 2021/2022 academic session. A warm welcome and lots of good wishes on becoming part of our growing UNIDEL. Congratulations, and on behalf of management, we are all happy and excited about your inputs and contribution to our emerging University. Thank you all for deciding to be part of making history. Remain blessed.

History of the Department

The Department of Architecture was established as a distinct academic unit in 2021 with the upgrade of the College of Education, Agbor to a university status (UNIDEL). It is a department within the newly created Faculty of Environmental Science.

The current programme is in line of curriculum development that is aimed at producing high skilled architects capable of responding to a society in rapid transition. This programme will maintain the tradition of a two-tier system leading to then award of B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees which grant exemption from the Part I and Part II of the NIA professional practice examination. The four-year Bachelor of Science degree is organised as the general Arts and Science background to the discipline which leads to the more focused professional training offered in the two-year Master of Science in Architecture (M.Sc. Arch) programme.

This programme has been designed to address global issues which have influenced the discipline, profession, and practice of architecture. These issues include Sustainability, Globalization, and Information Communication Technology. In addition, it has also taken cognizance of both the National University Commission (NUC) Minimum Academic Standards and the accreditation requirements of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) and Architects Registration Council of Nigeria.
